EDCB

Computational and Quantitative Biology The program offers students a multidisciplinary education at the intersection of biology with quantitative sciences and computation to become the future generation of quantitative life scientists.

Students with interest and skills in computation and quantitative subjects will address the emerging questions in biology dealing with the mechanistic comprehension of living processes and the interpretation of big amounts of data.

The combination of coursework, the development and application of computational methods to biological questions, in-house seminars, and national and international conferences, etc. form the basis of this education.

The program’s themes include:

  • Applied mathematics
  • Biochemistry
  • Bioinformatics
  • Biophysics
  • Computational neurosciences
  • Developmental biology
  • Digital epidemiology
  • Genomics and functional genomics
  • Machine learning
  • Microbiology
  • Neural data science
  • Protein design
  • Structural biology
  • Systems biology

The EPFL provides substantial hardware infrastructure and computational expertise to operate at the forefront of computational and quantitative biology.
