Taylor & Francis Online: two online collections in STM and SSH fields for both students and researchers.

The Taylor & Francis Online platform offers an access to more than 2,500 journals. Since 10 years, the EPFL Library made the choice to subscribe only to the electronic collection dedicated to the EPFL community: basic sciences, technology, social sciences & humanities. Only the medical collection is not part of the subscription of the Library.

With the collaboration of the Consortium of Swiss Academic Libraries, the EPFL Library negotiates each year a new license with Taylor & Francis.

EPFL librarians analyze the collection in terms of both price and accessibility and negotiate favorable conditions for EPFL researchers. Over the past 7 years, the Library has managed to cap the annual increase of the license price at 4%. Considering the constant evolution of the publishing market (prices inflation, explosion of the number of titles, etc.), this process of negotiation is essential.

Major scientific issues, such as the publication in Open Access (OA) and the Text and Data Mining (TDM) are also discussed during negotiations.
